High Stress Jobs Linked to Heart Disease

According to Time Magazine, a European research team reviewed 13 studies of workers with highly demanding, stressful jobs. The researchers found that there was a 23% greater chance of these stressed workers having a heart attack over the 7.5 years of the study compared to their peers with less stressful jobs.

Their estimates that eliminating job stress could reduce the risk of heart attacks by 3.4% might have been conservative (especially when smoking is a contributing factor for 36% and lack of exercise is at 20%). When one in three Americans suffer from heart problems, any decrease in stress will positively affect your health.
