Yoga and Mental Health: More Positive Research

According to Time Magazine, researchers looking at more than 100 studies found that yoga has a positive impact on mild depression, ADHD, sleep problems, and other mental health issues.

Most people feel good after physical exercise in general, and after practicing yoga, many feel calmer and have a clearer mind. Yoga may even help boost the brain’s levels of serotonin, which helps regulate mood.

This initial research is encouraging, and the evidence may lead to a larger study on how yoga affects mental health. This isn’t to say that you should throw out your current treatment in exchange for a yoga mat. Instead, yoga can be used as a complementary treatment for mental disorders.
